A Developers Guide to Riparian Setback Determination

Lac La Biche County is pleased to announce that the new Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw were adopted by Council on May 22, 2007 (see links above for documents and schedules).  The new documents provide in great detail the goals and visions of future development in Lac La Biche County.

The Planning and Development department of Lac La Biche County handles all development permit applications for new development in the County.  Permits are generally required for, but are not limited to, such things as the following:

  • Single Detached Dwellings (includes “cabins”, etc.)

  • Manufactured (mobile) Homes

  • Commercial/Industrial Developments

  • Accessory Buildings such as garages and outdoor storage facilities (depending on the size and zoning)

  • Home Business (major and minor)

The above represents a small portion only of the kinds of developments requiring permits.  In addition to development permits, many developments require permits under the Safety Codes Act.  Such permits include building permits, electrical permits, plumbing/gas permits and private sewage disposal permits.

The Planning and Development Department also handles applications for rezoning and subdivisions.  Subdivision applications can involve from simple agricultural parcels or more complex situations for multi-lot residential or Rural Commercial/Industrial applications, and everything in between.

To better serve the public the Planning and Development Department of Lac La Biche County is requesting that individuals call ahead to book an appointment with our Planning and Development Department.

Due to the heavy volume of applications and development growth in Lac La Biche County we anticipate that your wait time may be reduced by making an appointment.

For more information on permits, subdivisions and rezoning, please contact the Lac La Biche County Office and ask to speak with the Development Officer.
