Organizations can only receive funding for initiatives that are not currently supported by other sources of County funding. An organization can only be approved for Community Development Grant funding once per year, and can only apply for funding again once any current funding agreement with the County has ended.
Are events eligible for this funding? Events are no longer eligible for this program. Please see Event Sponsorship to find out more about funding opportunities for event organizers.
How much funding can I apply for? Applications submitted prior to October 31 each year can be for any amount. After October 31, only applications for funding up to $10,000 are permitted.
Who determines if funding is approved? Administration will make decisions for requests up to $10,000. Council will make decisions for requests over that amount. Your organization may asked to appear before Council to answer questions and provide more information.
Can I apply for past programs, projects and operating expenses? No, expenses incurred prior to application approval are not eligible. The exception to this would be a funding request for operating expenses in the coming year, where the application is submitted before October 31 but a final decision is not made until after January 1 or later. Please call (780) 623-6794 for more details about this.
What reporting is required once my initiative is complete? Reporting requirements will be outlined in funding agreements between the County and organizations receiving grant dollars. For programs and projects, reports of revenues and expenses are typically required. Evidence of expenses (receipts, invoices, etc.) may also be needed.
