Flood control measures during spring melt, sandbags available to divert water
Due to unusually high spring runoff, there are many places in the County where road conditions have been impacted. Please drive with caution and look ahead for water sitting or flowing on the road surface.
As the snow melts, many properties are also experiencing flooding. Residents who need to divert water can pick up sandbags free of charge at the County Centre on Highway 881 and the Festival Centre in Plamondon. Residents will need to sign the sandbags out, and we ask that residents only use the sand for flood mitigation.
There are also sand piles located near McArthur Place in the hamlet of Lac La Biche, Golden Sands subdivision (turn left at the mailboxes and go to the end of the road) and just off Campsite Road on Township Road 682A north of Plamondon.
Our crews are working hard to address drainage issues and we appreciate residents' patience. To report drainage or road condition issues, please call (780) 623-1747 and ask to speak to Transportation Services. If you discover any unsafe conditions after hours, please call (780) 404-4078.
