Background information and next steps for Main Street Revitalization
On behalf of Lac La Biche County, V3 Companies of Canada has started work on a "streetscape plan" for enhancing 101 Avenue (Main Street) in the hamlet of Lac La Biche, between 100 Street at 103 Street.
Engagement sessions were held on February 5 and 6, to gather input from downtown business representatives and members of the public.
Why is the County creating a "streetscape plan?"
Essential services such as water and sewer utilities have life cycles. As their life cycles end, they need to be dug up and replaced. This is the case for the water and sewer lines running under Main Street (101 Avenue) between 100 Street and 103 Street in the hamlet of Lac La Biche. It is natural for decision-makers and planners to question whether or not this is a good time to also improve the street's above-ground features, including but not limited to road surfaces, sidewalks and lighting.
This project will provide design concepts based on cost, engineering best practices, space-making principles, and community member input.
The consultant is now preparing a design concept, which is based on identified objectives and common themes resulting from the engagement sessions. Once the concept has been reviewed by Lac La Biche County Administration and Council, final drafts will be presented to the public for feedback. The design will then be finalized for Council's consideration.
