Proposed Clubroot Management Agreement information and feedback session
Clubroot is a soil-borne disease that affects cruciferous plants, including crops like canola. Clubroot is considered a pest under Alberta's Agricultural Pests Act.
Clubroot has been detected in Lac La Biche County, so we need to take steps to manage the disease and limit how far and how quickly it spreads. We are proposing a Clubroot Management Agreement, so we can work with affected producers to create action plans for controlling clubroot on a case-by-case basis. The Clubroot Management Agreement includes measures like crop rotation, reduction of soil movement, etc.
Are you an agricultural producer? Come to an information session to learn more about the draft Clubroot Management Agreement and tell us what you think about the document. Help us work collaboratively with our agricultural community to address clubroot.
Session will take place on December 10, 2019 at Craigend Hall on Highway 55.
Event will start at 6 p.m. and will include a free dinner for registered attendees.
Dinner will be from 6-6:45, followed by a 30-minute presentation on clubroot, and then an open discussion about the proposed Clubroot Management Agreement and how it can meet the needs of both the County and individual producers. All feedback on the proposed document is welcome.
Please pre-register for the event by calling our Environmental Services department at (780) 623-6739 or emailing email@example.com.
