Lac La Biche County Recreation Facility Relaunch (updated June 29, 2020)

Post Date:06/18/2020 3:01 PM

Now that stage two of the Government of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy has been implemented, Lac La Biche County will begin reopening recreation facilities in phases.

The County has and will continue to follow all of Alberta Health Services’ recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As these regulations evolve and change, we will adapt facilities’ usage rules. Keep an eye out for updates on laclabichecounty.com, boldcenter.ca, and social media.

Bold Center Cenovus Fitness Centre, Canadian Natural Walking Track, Cenovus Field House 2 reopen on July 2. Please click here to read the Reopening FAQ.

On Thursday, July 2, 2020, the Bold Center will partially reopen. Starting that day, the Cenovus Fitness Centre, Canadian Natural Walking Track, and Cenovus Field House 2 will be open from 12 pm to 8 pm each day, with a limited number of patrons allowed in each area at a given time.

Patrons will be able to call 780-623-3829 to book a time, and will be asked to limit their time in the Cenovus Fitness Centre, on the Canadian Natural Walking Track, or in Cenovus Field House 2 to allow other users into the facility.

Please note that patrons who drop in may be turned away and asked to book a different time if the facilities are full. Everyone who uses the Bold Center must follow staff’s instructions, which are based on Alberta Health Services’ guidelines and recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

More details on facility rules will be posted closer to the reopening date on laclabichecounty.com and boldcenter.ca.

Other Bold Center Facilities

The skating arenas and Cenovus Field House 1 will remain closed at this time. Dates for reopening these parts of the Bold Center will be announced in the near future.

Portage Pool remains closed for foreseeable future

Although pools are able to reopen in phase two of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy, Alberta Health Services’ guidelines would only allow a very small number of patrons to use Portage Pool at any given time, and users would be unable to enter change rooms.

As such, Portage Pool will remain closed for the time being. A date for reopening Portage Pool will be announced in the near future.

Outdoor Recreation: Fork Lake Campground and Paul Richard Memorial Spray Park reopen June 26

Additionally, both the Fork Lake Campground and Paul Richard Memorial Spray Park will reopen on June 26, 2020 for regular usage. Please obey all posted signage in these areas.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to safely relaunch County facilities, programs, and services.
