Clarification on Bold Center, Portage Pool, and County programs under COVID-19 enhanced public health measures
On Friday, November 13, 2020, the Government of Alberta placed Lac La Biche County under enhanced status, which means additional restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
To clarify, both the Bold Center and Portage Pool can continue to operate under the current restrictions. We have confirmed with the Government of Alberta that bans on fitness group classes, team sports, and group performances do not apply to Lac La Biche County. We prioritize the safety of the public and our staff, and measures like increased cleaning and limits on the number of participants in programs are continuing under the enhanced restrictions. And although it is not required, public mask use in common areas at the Bold Center and Portage Pool (along with all County buildings) is highly encouraged.
However, in light of the increase in local COVID-19 cases, we have changed and postponed a number of programs, especially those that serve vulnerable populations like young families and seniors. Some programs will be moved to larger spaces, and others will require pre-registration to ensure that participant numbers are kept under provincial guidelines. Where programs can’t be changed, we will postpone them or offer virtual options—we will be sure to notify all registrants and update our social media followers about cancellations.
We aim to continue providing programs and services that keep people healthy, engaged, and connected in a safe environment. Thank you for your patience as we work towards that goal, and please follow Lac La Biche County, the Bold Center, Lac La Biche County FCSS, and Portage Pool’s social media pages for future updates.
