Fire restriction in effect for Lac La Biche County starting April 21, 2021
Current fire restriction level: FIRE RESTRICTION
Due to a cured grass fire hazard, Lac La Biche County is following the Province’s lead and calling a fire restriction for our permitting area, effective April 21, 2021.
No new fire permits will be issued for non-essential heavy burning (windrows, machine-piled brush, etc.). All other fire permits will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Previous burning sites should be checked for extinguishment. Caution should be exercised during windy conditions.
Small, safe cooking and warming fires (i.e. campfires) remain permitted.
If you have any questions, please contact Lac La Biche County’s complaint line at 780-623-6767.
Permitting: Lac La Biche County and Alberta's Forest Protection Area
The County and the provincial government handle fire permitting and wildfire management in different areas. This is because most of our County falls within Alberta's Forest Protection Area. Click here to see a map of the County, showing who is responsible for which areas. If your property is in an area handled by the provincial authorities, you will need to contact Alberta Agriculture & Forestry about fire permits. Call (780) 623-5388 to contact the local branch.
