Lac La Biche County and Portage College have entered into a partnership to provide high-quality training for new and existing law enforcement professionals. Through the Enforcement Services department, we have developed and worked hard to bring several training opportunities to the Lac La Biche area.
As we move forward with our training program, Lac La Biche County also realizes that there is a lack of training offered for persons who wish to enter the law enforcement field as a Community Peace Officer. We are proud to offer our Community Peace Officer Induction Program to persons from the public. In late spring to early summer of 2021, our training program will also be unveiling a Community Peace Officer Induction Program that will be fully accredited by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General. This training program will provide students with all the required skills and training to be appointed as a Community Peace Officer Level I. This will mean that successful candidates who complete the required screening will be able to complete the required training to become a Level I Peace Officer. This will allow students to enter the workforce with the required training and something that is not currently undertaken by any other training agency.
We also offer module-based training in the following disciplines:
Traffic Stop Safety;
Radar / Laser Speed Measurement;
First Aid and CPR;
Working Mind (Mental Health Awareness for First Responders);
Emergency Vehicle Operations;
Shot Gun New User and Recertification; and
Crime Prevention Education.
It is anticipated that our Law Enforcement Training Program will be hosting a Bridge Training course in March of 2021, which is the required training to transition Level II Community Peace Officers to Community Peace Officer Level I’s.
Upcoming training courses are advertised on this site and for further information, please contact us at email@example.com.
