McArthur Park Master Plan Update
At the April 6, 2021 Regular Council Meeting, Council reviewed two concept plans for McArthur Park, which were developed based on public feedback. These concepts can be reviewed by clicking this link and scrolling to pages 3 and 4.
Overall, 297 responses were gathered on these concepts, and 67% of respondents preferred concept 2, while 33% of respondents preferred concept 1. Moreover, when asked the question "should there be a ball diamond in McArthur Park," 60% of respondents said no, 34% said yes, and 6% were unsure. Residents were also asked "Is McArthur Park the right location for a skateboard park?" 58% of respondents said yes, 24% said no, and 18% were unsure.
After considering public feedback, Council passed a motion at the April 6, 2021 meeting. They adopted McArthur Park Master Plan Concept 2, with the following recommended revisions:
- Removing the winter skating area;
- Including indoor event space;
- Including a formal stone walkway; and
- Locating the skate park next to the bike skills park.
A final McArthur Park Master Plan will be brought back to County Council for approval.
It is important to know that more detailed planning needs to occur before construction begins. During more detailed planning, specific elements of the Park will be finalized, including their location.
Thank you to all community members who took the time to provide feedback.
