Lac La Biche County establishes committees and boards for the purposes of advising Council on topics like crime reduction, dealing with taxation complaints, hearing development appeals, and much more. Members of the public are invited to apply: serving on committees and boards is an excellent way to get involved in the political process and weigh-in on issues that impact the municipality.

Lac La Biche County is proud to be a diverse, healthy and safe community, and relies on the engagement of its community members, as such the County is undertaking a recruitment campaign to fill the following vacancies:


Lac La Biche County Assessment Review Boards (Local Assessment Review Board/Composite Assessment Review Board)

Open until suitable candidates found.

The Assessment Review Board is a quasi-judicial board established to hear and make decisions on complaints about any matter referred to in section 460(5) of the Municipal Government Act related to property tax assessments and tax notices.

The Assessment Review Board meets as required and is seeking Members at Large for a term of three (3) years. Please note that the Municipal Government Act requires Members to successfully complete a training program.

Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB)

Open until suitable candidates found.

The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board is a quasi-judicial board that hears appeals on subdivision and development decisions made by the subdivision and development authority.

The Board meets as required and is seeking Members at Large for a term of three (3) years. Please note that the Municipal Government Act requires Members to successfully complete a training program.

Lac La Biche County Library Board

Open until suitable candidates found.

The Lac La Biche County Library Board is responsible for the management of two sites located at the Bold Centre (the Stuart MacPherson Public Library) and at Ecole Plamondon (the Plamondon Municipal Library), plus pop-up locations. The Library Board services the entirety of Lac La Biche County, including the surrounding Indigenous communities, and provides leadership in delivering a variety of quality materials and services that is welcoming and respectful. 

The Lac La Biche County Library Board is seeking a Board Member with the following characteristics:

  • Active with youth and young adults in the Lac La Biche County;
  • Belief in the importance of libraries and commitment to the vision and mission;
  • Willingness to serve, and to sit on one or more Board committees as required; and
  • Skill or knowledge in one or more areas of Board governance: policy, program, personnel, finance or advocacy. 

The Board meets up to 6 evenings a year at the Bold Center location for approximately 3 hours per meeting and is seeking one (1) Board Member for a three (3) year term.

Agricultural Appeals Committee

Open until suitable candidates found.

The Agricultural Appeal Committee is seeking Members at Large to hear appeals pursuant to the Weed Control Act and/or the Agricultural Pests Act. Members at Large are required to serve on an independent panel to hear matters prescribed under the legislation. Agricultural and/or legal expertise is considered an asset. Current members of the Agricultural Service Board are not eligible to be appointed to the appeals committee to hear appeals under the Weed Control Act or the Agricultural Pests Act.

The Agricultural Appeals Committee will meet as needed and is seeking Members-At-Large for the 2024 calendar year.

Lac La Biche County Economic Development Advisory Committee

Open until suitable candidates found.

The Lac La Biche County Economic Development Advisory Committee was established to serve in an advisory capacity to County Council. The committee will provide Lac La Biche County Council guidance on general section direction for the purpose of prioritization of policies, objectives and projects related to strategic goals and outcomes for economic development in Lac La Biche County. 

The Economic Development Advisory Committee will monitor relevant planning documents and provide broad perspective feedback for updates and/or change as required, in addition to assist in opening lines of communication on economic development opportunities. 

Lac La Biche County is seeking representation for the following seats for one (1) year and two (2) year terms:

  • Non-Profit Seat
  • Indigenous Seat
