Committee Vacancies

Lac La Biche County establishes committees and boards for the purposes of advising Council on topics like crime reduction, dealing with taxation complaints, hearing development appeals, and much more. Members of the public are invited to apply: serving on committees and boards is an excellent way to get involved in the political process and weigh-in on issues that impact the municipality.

Assessment Review Boards
(Local Assessment Review Board/Composite Assessment Review Board)

The Assessment Review Board is a quasi-judicial board established to hear and make decisions on complaints about any matter referred to in section 460(5) of the Municipal Government Act that is shown on an assessment notice or tax notice other than property tax notice for: Residential Properties with three or less dwelling units or farmland (LARB) and non-residential property and residential property with four or more dwelling units (CARB). 

The Assessment Review Board meets as required and is seeking up to six (6) Members at Large for a term of three (3) years. Please note that the Municipal Government Act requires Members to successfully complete a training program in accordance with the Matters Relating to Assessment Complaints Regulation.

Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Board - 1 position

Open until suitable candidate found.

The Family and Community Support Services Board promotes and encourages citizen awareness of social issues and recommendations for programming and prevention programs. The Board acts as a liaison between Council and Community groups, recommends social policies, and serves as an advisor to the Associate CAO, Recreation and Community Services Division by providing counsel in program development and management.

The Family and Community Support Services Board meets monthly and is seeking one (1) member for a three-year term.

Lac La Biche County Economic Development Advisory Committee – 1 Vacancy

Open until a suitable candidate is found

The Lac La Biche County Economic Development Advisory Committee was established to serve in an advisory capacity to County Council. The committee will provide Lac La Biche County Council guidance on general section direction for the purpose of prioritization of policies, objectives and projects related to strategic goals and outcomes for economic development in Lac La Biche County.

The Economic Development Advisory Committee will monitor relevant planning documents and provide broad perspective feedback for updates and/or change as required, in addition to assist in opening lines of communication on economic development opportunities.

There is currently one vacancy to be filled by a public member. In accordance with the terms of reference, preferred representation is being sought from one of the following (but is not limited to):

  • ROABA
  • Agricultural Sector
  • Community Futures

Lac La Biche County Library Board

Lac La Biche County is proud to be a diverse, healthy and safe community, and relies on the engagement of its community members, as such the County is undertaking a recruitment campaign to fill the following board vacancies:  

BOARD MEMBER: 1 position

The Lac La Biche County Library Board is responsible for the management of two sites located at the Bold Center (the Stuart MacPherson Public Library) and at Ecole Plamondon (the Plamondon Municipal Library), plus pop-up locations. The Library Board services the entirety of Lac La Biche County, including the surrounding Indigenous communities, and provides leadership in delivering a variety of quality materials and services that is welcoming and respectful. 

The Board meets up to 6 evenings a year at the Bold Center location for approximately 3 hours per meeting and is seeking one (1) Board Member for a three (3) year term. 

YOUTH BOARD MEMBER: 1 position 

The Lac La Biche County Library Board is seeking a Youth Board Member to join for a three (3) year term. If you are between the ages of 16-24, bring a youthful perspective, and want to reach youth to encourage their involvement in library programs and services, then this is an excellent opportunity for you.

Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) - 1 position

Open until suitable candidate found.

The Lac La Biche County Municipal Planning Commission serves as the Subdivision Authority for all subdivision applications, with the exception of subdivisions under direct control. The Municipal Planning Commission also serves as the Development Authority for discretionary uses, and other applications referred by the Development Officers. 

The Commission meets bi-monthly and is seeking one Member at Large for a term ending December 31, 2027.

Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB)

Open until suitable candidate found.

The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board is a quasi-judicial board that hears appeals on subdivision and development decisions made by the subdivision and development authority. 

The Board meets as required and is seeking Members at Large for a term of three (3) years. Please note that the Municipal Government Act requires Members to successfully complete a training program (training programs can range either a full day or up to three half days) in accordance with the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Regulation.
