Up to 50 per cent of household waste is food waste. A FoodCycler can turn 90 per cent of that into odourless fertilizer in a matter of hours.
We would like to thank everyone who has joined our 2023 FoodCycler pilot program. Applications for new registrants are no longer being accepted at this time.
Lac La Biche County has partnered with FoodCycle Science to test a new waste diversion strategy, to keep more food waste from going to our landfills.
What is a FoodCycler? A FoodCycler is a small, low-energy appliance that turns food scraps into dry, sterile fertilizer in just 4-8 hours. This means up to a 90 per cent reduction in food waste, and up to a 95 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from food waste.

Help us tackle food waste at home in three easy steps:
- Buy a FoodCycler through Lac La Biche County at a subsidized cost.
- Track your FoodCycler use over a 12-week period.
- Complete a short exit survey to let us know how well it worked for you, and you can keep the FoodCycler!
