Lac La Biche County Council approved the Tax Rate Bylaw on May 9, 2023. Council made the decision to increase tax rates for residential, farmland and rural non-residential classes.

PROPERTY CLASSMUNICIPAL MILL RATE (does not include provincial requisitions for education and seniors' lodges)
Residential and Farmland3.2448
Urban Non-Residential10.0000
Rural Non-Residential18.7320

An increase to the Minimum Tax Levy from $25 to $50 was approved in the budget on December 22, 2022 and is included in Bylaw 23-017 2023 Tax Rate Bylaw.

The Municipal Government Act requires municipalities to achieve a 5:1 ratio between their highest and lowest tax rates, but there is no specific timeline for making this change. The County's ratio in 2023 will be 5.77:1, down from last year's ratio of 5.89:1. The last time our ratio was changed was in 2020.

The 2023 Property Assessment and Tax Notices were mailed to property owners in Lac La Biche County on May 19, 2023. The deadline to pay property taxes is June 30 of each year. Property taxes are for the period from January 1 to December 31 annually.

Due to processing delays at Alberta Land Titles' office, recent ownership and mailing address changes will not be reflected on property assessment and tax notices mailed on May 19, 2023.

Lac La Biche County is not responsible for delays. Non-receipt of your property tax bill does not exempt you from paying your bill by the due date or late payment penalties. Lac La Biche County recommends that current and new property owners who have not received their property tax bill by the first week of June contact the tax clerk at (780) 623-1747 or taxes@laclabichecounty.com.
